THE FORWARDING & Clearing Chamber
of the Transport SETA (TETA F&C) has appointed web-enabled training provider Global Trade Training (GTT) as the lead provider in its pilot learnership.
That's the word from GTT's Charles Dey. The project involves twenty learners and those who successfully complete the course will receive the National Certificate in Freight Forwarding.
"The South African qualification structure in freight forwarding in many ways resembles the German Commercial Apprenticeship in this field, combining generic commercial subjects (bookkeeping, commercial law etc.) with the industry-specific customs and forwarding subjects," says Dey.
GTT will work closely with Commercial Advancement Learnership Scheme, a company founded by the Southern African German Chamber of Commerce and Industry to give learners training in general business which conforms to the German Commercial Apprenticeship System.
This learnership is expected to take some 18 months to complete and, on completion of a further two years of study, students will have acquired the internationally recognised FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding.
