Affirmative action will obviously play a major, future role in the lives of all companies, including those in forwarding, according to Peter Meihuizen. In order for this policy to work, he said, the essence of achieving a successful integration of all the sectors of the South African public into the economic life of the country is through training. In this respect, SAAFF has played a pivotal role, Meihuizen added.
It has established the clearing and forwarding sector of the Maritime Industry Training Board (MITB), he said. SAAFF's pro-active role in this regard has put clearing and forwarding in the forefront of industry training in this country.
