On 17 October 2022, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced an amendment to the “Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list”, relating to tariff subheadings 8701.91 to 8701.95 for which a Letter of Authority is now required from the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS).
The tariff subheading descriptions are:
CHAPTER 87 : Vehicles (Excluding Railway or Tramway Rolling-Stock), and Parts and Accessories Thereof
87.01 - Tractors (excluding tractors of heading 87.09):
8701.9 - Other, of an engine power
8701.91 - Not exceeding 18kW
8701.92 - Exceeding 18kW but not exceeding 37kW
8701.93 - Exceeding 37kW but not exceeding 75kW
8701.94 - Exceeding 75kW bit not exceeding 130kW
8701.95 - Exceeding 130kW
