Volumes of tobacco being moved from Zimbabwe are increasing, according to the official statistics. The 2013 tobacco marketing season ended on September 13, 2013. Total sales reached 166.6 million kg, representing an improvement of 16% over the previous year, but missing a 170-million-kg target that the government set at the start of the season by 2%. Revenue raised from the sale of tobacco increased from US$526.7 million in 2012 to US$612.1 million in 2013. Asia and Europe are the country’s major export markets for tobacco.
