On 03 July the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (Itac) announced the initiation of a Sunset Review of the anti-dumping duties on stainless steel sinks, classifiable in tariff subheading 7324.10, originating in or imported from the People’s Republic of China and Malaysia, on which comment is due by 03 August.
The application was lodged by Franke Kitchen Systems (Pty) Ltd (Franke), the sole producer of stainless-steel sinks in the Southern African Customs Union (Sacu), who allege that the expiry of the anti-dumping duty would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and material injury.
According to Itac Franke submitted sufficient evidence and established a prima facie case to enable it to arrive at a reasonable conclusion that a Sunset Review investigation should be initiated.
