On 03 June 2023, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) advised that its Policy document related to staged consignments had been revised to include timelines of the application process. It indicated that it would assist traders in submitting staged consignment applications on time, thus preventing delays.
SARS mentioned that the following specific updates have been done:
- The period granted from the date of issue of the staged consignment approval letter
- The application for an extension
- Handling of damaged goods
- Goods that are not covered.
