The recently launched Lesotho
Revenue Authority-Business
Partnership Forum (LRA-BPF)
has identified a Single Window
System for Lesotho as one of its
priorities for 2014.
“The LRA-BPF was established
to discuss issues and find
solutions to facilitating trade
to the country. At a recent
workshop involving all the border
stakeholders it decided on the
establishment of a single window
system by the end of 2014,” said
Hilary Woelk, chairman of the
LRA-BPF.
A single window system allows
parties involved in trade and
transport to lodge standardised
information and documents
with a single entry point to fulfil
all import, export, and transitrelated
regulatory requirements.
He told FTW this move would
increase trade to the country as
it would speed up the entry and
exit process. “Another initiative
we are launching is an education
and awareness programme on the
benefits of paying taxes.”
