SARS challenges industry to help fight corruption

SOUTH AFRICAN Revenue Services (SARS) has called on any person in the freight industry to assist them in their fight against corruption by contacting their special investigations unit if they have any knowledge of corruption or fraud.
Responding to comments by the Road Freight Association (see page 10), spokesman Christo Henning told FTW: SARS views corruption in a very serious light. Our special investigations unit takes up all cases that come to our attention. Just give us a call on toll-free number 0800002870 and we will do the rest.
Henning has disagreed with the claim of the Road Freight Association that the two CCA1 forms in use are not fully acceptable to both parties.
During a meeting on February 9 this year with the RFA it was decided that both the old and the new CCA1 would be accepted until December 31, 2000 and that the new CCA1 would be the only acceptable form after that, he said.
