The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has committed to keeping construction to a minimum over the Easter holiday period and has given an undertaking that no journeys will be delayed by more than 20 minutes because of road building activities.
However, a few areas of road are currently under construction and this will continue during this period.
Traffic may be diverted at the stretch between Bloemfontein and Kroonstad on the N1 between Gauteng and the Western Cape, while the ongoing rehabilitation on the N3 Freeway (from Warden to Van Reenen in the Free State) will be limited during the holiday period. The construction of the Mount Edgecombe interchange near King Shaka Airport may cause some delays as a stop-and-go will be in place.
Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona has urged road users to obey speed limits and slow down at areas where temporary construction is taking place.
