South African Airways (SAA) spokesperson Vimla Maistry has denied media reports out of Kenya this week announcing a merger between SAA and Kenya Airways.
Sister publication Tourism Update, quoting News 24, said the news was simply not true.
In November last year the two airlines signed a Strategic Partnership Framework as part of plans to form a pan-African airline by 2023.
The agreement, according to SAA chairman John Lamola, was for the two airlines to work together to increase passenger traffic, cargo opportunities and general trade by taking advantage of strengths in South Africa, Kenya, and the rest of Africa.
