Rwandan national air carrier adds direct flights from JHB to Lusaka

RwandAir this week added five new direct weekly flights from Johannesburg to Lusaka.

According to RwandAir South Africa country manager, Thembela Dladla, the additional flights are expected to accommodate the increased cargo demand between South Africa and Zambia, and from Zambia to the rest of Africa.

He told FTW Online that the route, which was one of the busiest point-to-point destinations on the continent, would be operated by an A330-300 wide body aircraft.

The airline has sixth freedom rights which allows it to pick up passengers and cargo from South Africa and transport them to Zambia.

He said that some countries did not allow this in order to protect their markets.

The flights will run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
