Roads and bridges were badly damaged when last week’s floods caused by Cyclone Dando struck Mpumalanga’s Nkomazi area south of Malelane, Hoedspruit in Limpopo, and the Kruger National Park. In Hoedspruit, more than 350 people had to be evacuated or airlifted during the week, including 53 children who had to be airlifted from schools. In Mpumalanga, 14 Nkomazi families had to be relocated while about 40 homes were damaged. Food parcels were arranged for the affected families.
