Shipping lines are being forced to make immediate contingency plans as the impact of yesterday’s cyberattack on port operations takes hold.
“Please be advised that in light of the current system issues being faced by Transnet, as well as the upcoming weather challenges, it has been agreed that the Santa Isabel will omit Cape Town on her southbound call,” the line told customers in an advisory released yesterday.
“Imports will remain onboard for Cape Town northbound call with ETA August 12, while exports will be moved to the next available vessel.”
No doubt shippers will be receiving several such advisories in the coming days.
