Reminder to Renew Licences for 2012

In a letter dated 10 October 2011, titled Reminder to Renew Licences for 2012, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) advised as follows: 1. This Office’s letter SC-CF-01-L129 dated 29 June 2010 refers. 2. In terms of Section 60(1), the Rules thereto and Schedule 8 of the Customs and Excise Act, clearing agent and road haulier licences are valid for a period of one year and must be renewed annually by 31 December. 3. You are hereby reminded to renew your licence(s) for 2012 by 31 December 2011 as failure to comply with this request will result in the cancellation of your Customs code. 4. The DA 185 and the relevant annexure(s) must be completed for purposes of licence renewal in terms of Rule 60.01(1)(C). Proof must be attached to the DA 185 where there has been a change in the company’s information and the new information must be inserted on the DA 185. 5. You are further advised that clients who do not submit the applications for the renewal of licence(s) by the end of December 2011 may automatically be cancelled and will have to go through the full licensing process.
