On 30 January 2026, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development released its 26-page,“ Procedures for the Application, Administration and Allocation of Export Quotas Under the Economic Partnership Agreement Between the European Union (EU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for the Year 2026” in terms of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (BBBEE).
The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the SADC and the EU was signed by both parties on 10 June 2016. It came into effect on 01 October 2016. The SADC-EU EPA package contains agricultural products to be exported by South Africa into the EU market under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) regime. The SADC-EU EPA TRQ package offers South Africa enhanced market access for agricultural products.
