JOY ORLEK INTERMODAL MAJOR RailRoad Africa has added another accolade to its collection. It has been named one of the top 300 South African empowerment companies for the period 2004/2005 by the annual publication Impumelelo, the second time it has made it into the ranks. An initiative by the journal in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry, Impumelelo recognises and rewards top-performing empowerment companies and individuals from the private and public sectors. The panel of judges assesses company composition, revenues, board structure and the like, says RailRoad Africa CEO Deon Weelson. “At RailRoad Africa there is ample evidence of our commitment to the true spirit of empowerment, which begins at grass roots level,” says Weelson. “This nomination recognises our on-going commitment.”
