Work has started on the building
of a rail link through Malawi
between the Tete coalfields and the
port of Nacala.
Mining services company
WorleyParsons has been awarded the
contract to build the rail link between
Nacala and a coal mine owned by
Brazilian resources giant, Vale.
The 584km-long rail link will be able
to transport 18 million tons of coal
a year.
The Nacala Rail Corridor Project will
be undertaken by WorleyParsons’
Mozambique and South Africa
divisions. They will also complete the
detailed design and maintenance of
the facility at Nacala.
