Ports won't make way for tourist developments

WATERFRONT PROJECTS have a valuable place in the tourism industry, but should not be allowed to affect any port cargo operations in this country, says Siyabonga Gama.
"I am afraid logic must prevail in this instance," he told a recent JCCI gathering. "These two items must be separated and ports must not be placed at a disadvantage, although there are some who would like to see this happen. An example is in one of our cities (unnamed). They even want us to take the port out of their city for such a development!"
