THERE’S NEW muscle on the SA harbour front, with an amalgamation of two of the Bidvest Group terminals’ division companies.
Rennies Cargo Terminals (RCT) and SA Stevedores (SAS) have formed an amalgamation which, said MD Jannie Roux, is in line with Bidfreight Terminals’ strategic vision - to provide a “one-stop specialised terminal solution”.
RCT and SAS are represented in all SA ports, he told FTW, handling and shipping in excess of R2.5-million tons and 700 000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually.
“Improved synergies and co-ordination have already seen the establishment of integrated, specialised forest product, steel and foodstuff terminal operations,” said Roux, “in accordance with international Ôbest practice’ trends.”
Apart from the terminal operations, SAS continues to offer the broad spectrum of general stevedoring nationally - including bulk and breakbulk cargoes, such as coal, metal products (including scrap), pulp and paper products, vehicles, containers and specialised heavy lifts.
RCT and SAS are currently undergoing an exercise to incorporate these two, well recognised brands.
“The new image is expected to be launched during August of this year,” said Roux, “and will incorporate both companies’ visions - to provide competitive world-class terminal, stevedoring and associated service solutions.”
