Eskom has applied for a Nuclear Vessel Licence in terms of the National Nuclear Regulator Act. The application was made to enable a non-nuclear powered vessel to dock in Cape Town Harbour over the period November 2014 to December 2014, for the purposes of transporting nuclear fuel destined for the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.
Written comment to the chief executive officer, National Nuclear Regulator is due by 22 September 2014.
