On 12 September 2025, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced the insertion, with retrospective effect from 30 May 2025, of paragraph 1 of General Note O in Schedule No.1 to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 (Ordinary Customs Duty), to include Nigeria as part of the State parties in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
