NEXT MONTH sees the official launch of 'total logistics' provider, Quay Freight.
The company has merged its clearing and forwarding expertise with warehousing and distribution specialists Sherborne Projects to offer clients a hands-on 'one-stop shop'.
Quay Freight was established nine years ago as a clearing and forwarding agent by current operations director Richard Roodt.
The changing needs of shippers and the trend towards total logistics packages motivated the change of direction, commercial director Wayne Louis told FTW . Following the merger with Sherborne Projects we are now able to tailor-make services to suit our clients' total logistics needs..
The company offers air, sea, road and rail services, using established overseas agents, with warehousing and distribution facilities on site. Overborder distribution is one of its specialities. Part of the package is an on-line indent monitoring system.
The team's combined expertise in the industry totals almost 70 years. Dennis Nancarrow heads up forwarding and operations, Rob Nyschens is the logistics director, Richard Roodt the operations director and Wayne Louis, the commercial director. He has 15 years of experience in the mining, construction, electronics and food industries.
Headquartered in Isando, Quay Freight has its own logistics operation in Durban, and a clearing and forwarding office in Cape Town.
Nationwide the company has access to some 20 000 square metres of warehousing space.
