New ships agency unfurls its sails in Namibia

Growing freight volumes through the port of Walvis Bay have inspired two locals to go it alone. KLD Ships Agency was founded earlier this year by industry veterans Katja Glöditzsch and Lorraine Horn as an independent full service ships agency. They were soon joined by two equally experienced agents, Carlos Morgadinho and Morné Schloms. “We believe there is room for another agency in Walvis Bay because the port is on the map, and service levels need to be spot on,” Glöditzsch told FTW. The team members have been working together for some time. “Carlos and I have worked together for 20 years. Lorraine and I have known each other for 15 years and I have worked with her on and off for eight years. Morné and I have worked together for four years,” says Glöditzsch. With all members of the team having a stake in the business, Glöditzsch believes that they can raise the bar on the level of service in Walvis Bay. “We have a passion for superior service and the flexibility to live it. At the same time, all team members have a vested interest in the success of the company,” she says.
