The South African Revenue Service (Sars) launched its new website on May 3. Though it is visually enhanced, it may not be well received by small companies and individuals who already experience a challenges with bandwidth. Finding documents has proven to be challenging. For instance where the previous website had a “What’s New” page, and a “Publications” page, which was easily accessible, the new website seems to have spread these across categories. What is also challenging is that all past links have been broken rendering search engine searches useless as it only returns results as “broken links”. An initial observation, as any Internet user will tell you, text rich websites are preferable to visually rich websites.
