New high strength seal meets global standards

Alan Peat A NEW high-strength container seal has just been developed by an SA company for the local and overborder markets. “We have designed a seal with a 10-millimetre diameter pin made from special material composites to give added strength,” said Charles Rust, MD of Charles Rust Associates. “And lab results show it has a tensile strength of 3 200-kilograms.” It also meets the demands laid down in the International Standards Organisation (ISO) 17712 code. “Field tests in the laboratory showed that our product complies with these standards,” said Rust. It has been specifically built for African conditions, he added, and is extremely price competitive in a market where cost is a sensitive issue. The new product joins a full range of container seals which Charles Rust Associates has developed since it was founded in 1990. “Apart from bolt container seals we also have a range of plastic seals, ring seals, pull-tight seals and two different types of metal strap seals.” Added to this are two specialised products - the flexi-bolt with a cable insert, and barrier seals which lock both doors of a container. Charles Rust Associates has developed products for markets outside the container industry. “We also stock a full range of seals for electric and water meters, for example,” said Rust.
