KEVIN MAYHEW BY MESHING the capacities and almost 30 years of experience in transport and freight of Owen Smithard and O-Brian Nkupho, a new entity – HFL - has been born. The company will operate from a modern 1000 m2 warehouse in Jacobs, Durban, and will handle general cargo consolidations, container packing and unpacking, warehousing and freight distribution nationwide. Nkhupo, who started in business with one truck and today operates a successful fleet, believes that the company is the first in Durban to have successfully married the strengths of previously black owned companies into a single entity within the logistics sector. “We have a long history and intimate knowledge of the logistics sector which will go a long way to establishing HFL as a significant player,” he says. Nkupho and Smithard aim to challenge larger depots by providing more cost-effective and personalised logistics alternatives, drawing on its ability to table and execute a complete handling and freight package as opposed to piecemeal tasks.
