Mediterranean Shipping Company’s (MSC) inland cargo company Medlog has entered the Ukrainian logistics sector with the purchase of a stake in a local intermodal logistics business.
According to Forbes Ukraine, Medlog has bought 50% of the Ukrainian intermodal logistics operator N’UNIT (New Ukrainian Network of Intermodal Terminals) and a 25% stake in the cross-border terminal, Mostyska. The value of the deal is estimated to be in the region of between $15m and $30m.
The other shares in the company are owned by Yegor Grebennikov, co-owner of the TIS Group and founder of N’UNIT, who holds 50% of the latter and a 25% stake in the Mostyska terminal.
The remaining 50% of the terminal business will continue to be owned by local company, Lemtrans, which is linked to businessman, Rinat Akhmetov.
N’UNIT manages four intermodal terminals in Vyshneve near Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the Lviv region. The Mostyska terminal is involved in significant rail freight operations at the Ukrainian-Polish border.
The deal is the first officially announced acquisition by an international logistics company that involves local rail freight assets since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) officially approved the transaction in March 2025.
