Mozambique to examine future of 20 public companies

The public debt crisis in Mozambique has forced the government to consider the restructuring, privatisation or closure of 20 public companies.

In a press conference in Maputo last weekend, the president of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, said: “It is a restructuring or re-evaluation of the existence (of public enterprises), such as Aeroportos de Mocambique….”

Aeroportos de Mocambique last week acknowledged a debt of the equivalent of R7.5 billion, guaranteed by the state.
