Mozambique to build a multi-billion rand dam

The Moamba Major dam’s water capacity is 760 million cubic metres, and this will be used to supply 15 megawatts of hydro-power to the national grid.

In a project costing over R7.6 billion and to be funded by a Brazilian loan, the construction of the Moamba Major dam in Mozambique is due to start in May.

Designed to supply electricity and water to Maputo province, it will take three years to build and will be constructed by a consortium led by Brazilian group Andrade Gutierrez, according to news agency APA.
