Maputo port gets new bunker service

A new bunkering service out of the Port of Maputo has been launched with immediate availability.

CPG Bunkering, partnering with Maputo Port Development Company, announced the new service on Wednesday.

This is the first time since IMO 2020 that very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) has been made available in the port.

According to a port spokesman, the service is immediately available to supply bunkers by barge.

“The exclusive agreement between the two parties was signed on Monday (September 19) and will see the consistent supply of marine fuels in the Port of Maputo.”

Both VLSFO and low sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO) will be available and delivered via ship-to-ship transfer at anchorage or at berth within the port’s jurisdiction area on a 24-hour basis.

“All fuels supplied will comply with the latest ISO:8217 quality standards for marine fuels and meet with MARPOL requirements. The contract between the parties has an initial duration of two years,” said the spokesman.

In Maputo, CPG Bunkering will initially offer delivery of VLSFO and LSMGO via its chartered barge, which was previously employed delivering bunkers in the port of Jebel Ali in the UAE.

The barge is already positioned in the port.
