Manica receives additional ISO certification

Supply chain services company Manica Group Namibia has attained ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) certification, “marking a major step forward in its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability”, a statement says.

The internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems helps organisations identify and manage how their activities impact the environment, from resource use and waste to emissions and legal compliance.

The service provider said the “certification is not just a badge – it represents a strategic shift in how the company runs its operations.

“By embedding ISO 14001 into its business, Manica ensures that environmental responsibility is central to how it works, not an afterthought. The certification means the company now has formal systems in place to monitor, measure and consistently improve its environmental performance across its logistics, freight and marine services”.

Manica adds that the EMS framework will help it reduce waste, optimise resource use and minimise its environmental footprint.

“The standard supports systematic tracking of local and international environmental laws, helping avoid fines or legal setbacks.”

The certification is also in keeping with the company’s drive toward ESG goals –environmental, social and governance – a growing focus within the group’s strategic planning.

“Over the past year, the company has emphasised sustainability efforts, including initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint through more efficient logistics practices and improved operational efficiency.”

Manica already has ISO certification for running a Quality Management System and for its Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
