At this stage our trade is small, but it’s an
area of huge potential, says Bonnett.
“A number of big mining operations
are coming to fruition in the south of
the country and there are big World Bank
infrastructure development projects in
roads and power which have in the past
constrained Madagascar.Now you’re seeing
the integrated poles project which has large
power, telecommunications and transport
components.”
Apart from mining, tourism and tourism
development are picking up, as are agriculture
and agro processing. Oil and gas have also
been discovered in reasonable quantities off
the north west coast of the country.
