Lykes wins accolade

LYKES LINES was named Shipping Line of the Year at the 1999 freight industry awards presented by UK publication IFW.
The judges said that Lykes was chosen in recognition of the impressive strides it had made in 1998. A bankrupt line is now trading profitably and is once more a power in the industry, they said.
The foundation for this success was the appointment of Frank Halliwell as chief executive officer and the new team he brought together.
