This month saw the launch by logistics company Transitex of an over-border road transport service operated by a fleet of its own trucks for the movement of dry cargo, project cargo and machinery.
The service operates to and from South Africa and Mozambique, with connections to Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda. The company has its own warehouses in Maputo and Johannesburg, which allow for the consolidation and deconsolidation of cargo.
Its fleet includes Superlinks, Triaxles and four-ton vans. “Owning our own equipment allows us to control the load in real time and fully control the entire operation, from origin to destination,” according to a company statement.
“The many possible routes include connections between Johannesburg/Durban/Cape Town and Lusaka/Blantyre/Lilongwe/Harare/Maputo, as well as between Maputo/Beira/Nacala and Blantyre/Lilongwe/Lusaka.”
