Thanks to 16 years of staff training and development, Röhlig-Grindrod Mozambique is now run by locals, according to Röhlig-Grindrod Mozambique country manager Amilcar Mafuiane. “Over the last 16 years the company has been in the country it has attracted local talent and trained them up to occupy 100% of all available job posts in the company (including management positions), he told Freight News.Services offered by the company include international freight on all modes of transport, sea freight to and from Mozambican ports, airfreight at the major Mozambican airports, project logistics, road freight, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution. There are also consolidation services from South Africa to Maputo, Beira and Tete. Road freight services in Mozambique include FTL (Full truck Load) and LTL (Less than Truck Load), as well as OOG (Out of Gauge)- abnormal freight services. Mafuiane says one of the major achievements for the company has been to retain its financial stability “despite the difficult times that the market is currently going through”. This has been achieved through the “constant redefining of how goods flow across the country to the various mega-projects (coal mines, oil & gas, heavy sands, etc).“We are also ensuring that we are keeping up with the global trend towards digital platforms which allow us to match supply and demand more precisely.“The market has become increasingly connected,” he says.
