MORE AND more companies are beginning to recognise the value that can be unlocked by outsourcing their warehousing says Lesley Haw, sales manager of Kapele Freight and Logistics which has increased its distribution centre space to provide a full warehousing service to clients.
“Outsourcing warehousing services results
in a reduction in inventory and improves cash flow as storage space is converted to manufacturing facilities.
“There is no doubt there is a growing awareness of the labour and other cost savings potential in outsourcing warehouse and distribution operations. The logic is simple: You focus on what you do best and leave your warehousing and distribution to us,” she says.
The company is geared to expand and add new capabilities as demand warrants and to meet customer growth, adds Haw.
Its comprehensive facilities range from cross docking, bar coding and labelling to bonded facilities, storage, pick and pack and documentation. In the area of light manufacturing, its range of services includes kitting assembly, customised orders, reverse logistics and return and repair.
“Our computerised warehouse management system is fully tested and has been in operation for the last three years, providing real time warehouse management to our existing clients for whom we offer a full logistics service which includes distribution,” she adds.
Kapele - a Black Economic Empowerment company - has differentiated itself from the many existing BEE companies, says Haw.
“While there is a window of opportunity for BEE companies, the commitment by major industry players to meeting the requirements of the industry BEE charter means that in a few years this differentiating issue will no longer be valid and companies will be judged on performance and service delivery,” she adds.
Kapele offers full supply chain management, giving advice and consultancy on all aspects of international freight forwarding and customs clearance procedures.
