SHIPPERS ARE increasingly demanding an end-to-end transport service - one that extends beyond the port to cover the entire logistics chain. And this is particularly true for those trading in Africa.
“They want convenience and one point of entry - they want to deal with a company that has a wide range of offerings and is large enough to have the expertise and the infrastructure to provide an end-to-end logistics service but small enough to provide a personalised shipping solution,” says Safmarine’s Africa region executive, Alan Jones.
Safmarine and its forerunners have been trading with Africa for more than 100 years. Today there is hardly a country in Africa in which Safmarine does not do business.
New tonnage, new trade routes, new sales offices under the Safmarine banner and new e-commerce initiatives are set to boost growth even further for the line, says Jones. “The recent investment in five new ships - specifically built for the African trade - is a sure sign of Safmarine’s commitment to growing the potential of Africa.”
