The deadline is looming for the roll-out by the Mozambican Revenue Authority (MRA) of the second phase of the Single Road Cargo Manifest process.
From June 16, all international road carriers transporting goods to Mozambique through the Ressano Garcia border post will be required to submit the Road Cargo Manifest on the Single Electronic Window (SeW) platform in compliance with national and international legislation.
Service Order Nr 17/AT/DGA/2017, signed by MRA director-general Aly Duato Malla on March 31, states that from June 16 the submission of the road cargo manifest on the SeW platform for the import regime at Ressano Garcia Border will becompulsory and must be done by the carrier.
To comply, international road carriers have to apply for a NUIT number from the MRA before registering with MCNet. Once registered, the carrier must apply to MCNet to receive the requisite training on the SeW platform. This must be done before June 15. To accommodate South African road carriers, MCNet now provides online training on the SeW platform.
The registration process is set out in the service order, copies of which, together with the NUIT application form and MCNet registration forms, may be obtained from MCLI at admin@mcli.co.za
