Things are returning to a more normal position in the seafreight trade in Japan, according to Chris Suchard, MD of Mitsui OSK Line (MOL). “The main ports – like Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Nagoya and Osaka – are all working normally,” he said, “and these are the primary container ports in the country. “We call at Kobe, Nagoya and Yokohama, for example, and are having no problems.” Also, according to Suchard, one of the main cargoes on the Japan-SA trade is from the automotive industry – and it is quickly recovering from the quake damage.
