AN SA-developed Automatic Identification System for ships is to be installed at the Tanjung Prick Port of Jakarta, Indonesia.
The system was developed by Marine Data Systems, a subsidiary of Transnet and is part of a co-operation agreement with the Ground and Naval Radar division of Munich-based Daimler Benz Aerospace which is installing a Vessel Traffic Management System in the port.
This is the first time that an international customer has chosen South African AIS technology.
