The appointment of Donya-Florence Amer to the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd, effective from February 1 next year, marks a milestone for the company.

Amer, who joins the company as chief information officer (CIO), will be the first woman to serve on its executive board in what will be its 175-year history.

Amer, 49, started her professional career in 1999 at IBM, where she held various management positions and was most recently CEO of Bosch Climate Solutions, of which she was a co-founder.
