The South African Maritime Safety Authority (Samsa) has launched an investigation into the incident of a vessel that caught fire in Durban on Thursday killing six people.
According to Samsa, the fishing vessel known as the TROPICAL 1, was Mozambique-registered and the agency is in the process of formally making contact with the Mozambican authorities to inform them about the incident.
The vessel was docked at the Durban harbour for repair work when it caught on fire. The cause of the fire has not been established yet.
Inspection of the vessel in order to determine the cause of the fire will be undertaken as soon conditions allow.
