The latest estimate of the cost of damages at China’s Port of Tianjin is massive - the equivalent of about R21 billion, according to insurance analysts.
But a more tragic cost of the catastrophic explosions that blew apart a logistics area at the port two weeks ago is that the death toll two days ago had reached a total of 129, including 70 firefighters and seven police officers. Forty four people were still missing and more than 600 people still hospitalised, 39 of those in serious condition.
