On 08 May the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) released its ninth annual iteration of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) based on the National Industry Policy Framework (NIPF) and its objectives.
IPAP 2017/18 places emphasis on job creation with a continuously strengthening focus on labour intensity, especially in labour-intensive sectors that link the productive sectors of the economy, across integrated value chains.
The IPAP seeks to achieve a higher impact in difficult economic circumstances. It recognises that key domestic constraints constitute a considerable break on industrialisation, and therefore recommends continued support for a constructive and solutions-based approach to key challenges which has been adopted by the economic cluster.
