Illicit tobacco dealer nabbed with R1.25mn worth of cigarettes

The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) on Friday apprehended a suspected tobacco smuggler carrying more than R1 million worth of illegal or counterfeit cigarettes at the Kopfontein border post between South Africa and Botswana.

Police discovered 75 master boxes of cigarettes, with an estimated street value of R1.25 million, in the 31-year-old suspect’s Isuzu bakkie.
