A hands-on approach based on 30 years’ experience in the freight industry coupled with security systems has enabled Ndola-based JA AF Logistics to safely deliver 100% of the cargo it has carried since opening for business in 2016, according to founder and managing director Firoz Dungarsi.
The company runs its f leet of trucks and f latbed trailers between the Copperbelt and the ports of Beira, Durban and Wa lv i s Bay.“Our success is due to two main factors.
The first is regular maintenance of the vehicles in our f leet by our own workshop team, and the second is ongoing driver training and evaluation,” says Dungarsi.Satellite tracking systems on all the trucks provide both security and a way to constantly monitor driver behaviour.
This includes parking between 18:00 and 06:00. “We use satellite tracking rather than GPRS because there are no grey zones where there is poor or no network coverage,” he says. The system enables Dungarsi to remotely switch off the truck’s engine if necessary. Physical security of high-value cargo is usually provided by the clients themselves, or by JAAF if necessary.
