Just over a year since
it opened, Kingsmead
Guesthouse in Borrowdale,
Harare, has become a home
from home for regular
business visitors to the
Zimbabwean capital.
According to owner/
manager Jenny Stijkel, the
guesthouse was purpose-built
for the corporate traveller and
leisure visitors to Zimbabwe
who want all the comforts of
home.
There are ten rooms, all
with en-suite bathrooms
and doors leading out onto
the veranda or private
courtyards.
Free high speed Wi-Fi
can be accessed throughout
the guesthouse. All rooms
have flat-screen TVs with a
full DSTV bouquet, eco-wall
heaters, international power
points, ceiling fans, digital
combination safes, silent
minibar fridges and tea and
coffee facilities.
The guesthouse is
completely self sufficient for
the times when power outages
are experienced.
There is also a small
meeting room for those
who prefer to conduct their
meetings in private.
Wherever possible
the guesthouse is
environmentally friendly with
solar panels for water heating,
energy-saving lighting and
appliances, and grey water
reticulation for the gardens.
