After more than 30 years in the freight and logistics industry, Megafreight has renewed its focus on sales and service to support its growth targets in the new financial year, says Madelein Denicker, newly appointed branch manager in Johannesburg. “The strategy entails strengthening Megafreight’s niche market offering, and focusing on international partnerships and a door-todoor service,” said Denicker. “We have had great success in the valuable cargo market, wine from the Cape, commodities trading as well as warehousing and value-added services,” she told FTW. She said that Megafreight’s restructuring process was also focused around changing market conditions. “Customers are far more aware and careful about how they spend their money in an environment where international markets are strained and so severely impacted by the ever fluctuating rate of currency.” Furthermore, restrictions, costs and regulations for different markets change so rapidly that adaptability and flexibility are key to meeting customer expectations, she added. “Megafreight meets these challenges by ensuring that customers are continuously kept in the loop. And because we are a South African company, with a very handson management structure, we can make quick decisions in response to these changes,” she said.
