Growing auto expo reflects spiralling local industry

Leonard Neill AUTOMOTIVE EXPORTS from South Africa will reach an annual level of R75 billion by 2005 predicts Pula Dippenaar, chief executive of Auto Africa Expo 2002, the country's major automotive product exhibition which takes place at Nasrec, Johannesburg this year from October 21-27. The industry has taken advantage of opportunities presented by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), with exports to the US having increased by 370% in rand terms during the past two years.
