by Terry Hutson After operating from their Albany House premises on Durban's Victoria Embankment since the company opened in Durban in 1993, Uniglory's agents in South Africa, Green Africa Shipping, have moved into new offices at the recently established Green Africa Container Depot at 28 Jaco Place, close to Durban's Bayhead.

The container park, which will be run independently from the ships agency division, will be purely for in-house empty container handling, according to Peter Besnard, branch manager of Green Africa Shipping. Running the depot, with facilities for 750 teus and an expected monthly handling of approximately 1500 containers, is well-known Jan Boshuizen.

This development follows the opening in Johannesburg of a similar depot about eight months ago.

The siting and facilities here allow us to provide quick turnaround for Portnet and private hauliers, Boshuizen told FTW. This equates to quality service - a free flow of container movement. The modern Durban office and depot is situated quite close to all main access routes to and from the harbour and the N2 and N3 highways. The branch staff complement is 30, with another twelve taking care of the depot needs.
